Bus Helsinki-Kiljava
Recycled text from August 2007, more exact instructions incl. bus schedules will be here by September 2008.
The Matkahuolto timetable search can be used to find connections from Helsinki central bus station (Kamppi bus terminal) to the nearest bus stop which is called Kiljavan kivi ("Rock of Kiljava").
The bus ride between Helsinki and the site takes about an hour either way. The price of the trip is about 11 euros for adults, children and students with a Finnish student card pay roughly 6 euros; be prepared to pay in cash (biggest bill taken is a 50 euro note). Note. In Finnish buses (and trains) there's no discount for purchasing a return ticket, a return costs just as much as two single trips.
The walk from the bus stop to site is about 1.5 kilometres, but you may get a pickup if you ask for it at least a week in advance and come with one of the buses that will be listed below when winter bus schedules become available. The frequency is about one bus per hour; slightly more during the afternoon rush hour and with just one or two buses leaving after 7 p.m. on Friday. On Sunday morning there'll be one bus between eight and nine, one between ten and eleven and one around noon.
